Chandelier installation across the UK

Chandelier installation.

Bought a new chandelier, or have one ready to go up? We’ll help you work out what’s involved and plan the installation with you.

We install chandeliers in private homes, hotels, restaurants, theatres and other venues across the UK. You’ll be talking to Steve and the team about your fitting and the room it’s going into.

Before it goes up

A few things we’ll talk through.

A small chandelier over a dining table and a large fitting above a staircase need different arrangements. We’ll take a look at yours before agreeing the work.

The chandelier

If you have the maker’s instructions, dimensions and weight, send those over. A photo or product link is useful too, whether it’s a new fitting or one you already own.

The ceiling

We’ll need to understand the fixing point and the structure above it. Having a light there already doesn’t tell us what weight its support can take.

The room

Tell us the ceiling height, where you’d like the chandelier to hang and what’s underneath it. We’ll talk about its position, hanging height and how we can get to it.

Making room for the work

High ceilings need a bit of planning.

Stairs, furniture and the space around the chandelier all affect how we reach it. We’ll discuss suitable access and any equipment needed before the visit.

We have expert scaffolders and qualified electricians. We’ll agree the access, electrical work and any other preparation needed for your job before we begin.

If you’re arranging work at a hotel, restaurant, theatre or venue, let us know when the room is available. We can talk through the timing around guests, opening hours or performances.

The work involved

What’s involved in an installation?

There’s more to hanging a chandelier than choosing where it looks best. Here are the things we’ll work through with you, from the first look at the room to the final checks.

Site assessment & planning

We start with the chandelier and the room it’s going into. Its size, weight, fitting instructions and ceiling height all help us plan the job. We’ll talk through its position, hanging height and any site visit needed before agreeing the work.

Power isolation & electrical safety

A qualified electrician handles safe isolation of the power supply before electrical work begins. The connections and electrical safety testing are also carried out by an appropriately qualified electrician. We’ll agree these arrangements with you before the visit.

Structural support & load testing

We look at the fixing point and the structure above it, not just the light fitting already there. We weight test every chandelier for safety and security, with the testing arrangements suited to the fitting and its location. Any further work needed to the support is addressed before the chandelier is hung.

Access & preparing the room

We plan how to reach the chandelier and make room to work, including protecting the surrounding area. Where scaffolding or other access equipment is needed, we’ll discuss it in advance. For venues, we’ll work through the timing around guests, opening hours or performances.

Assembly & hanging

Depending on its design, the chandelier may need to be assembled in sections before the crystal or glass is dressed into place. We follow the fitting instructions and take care over the details, from the hanging position to the arrangement of the individual drops.

Final checks & handing back

Once the chandelier is in place, we check its assembly and the way the pieces hang. The electrician completes the agreed electrical checks before it’s put into use. We’ll talk you through looking after it and answer any questions before we finish.

Load testing checks the support and fixings; it’s separate from the electrical safety checks. Read our weight load testing FAQ

Getting started

Send us a few details.

You don’t need to have everything worked out. These are useful starting points for a chat:

  • A photo of the chandelier, or a link to the one you’re buying
  • Its dimensions and weight, if you know them, and any fitting instructions
  • A wider photo of the room, with the ceiling height if possible
  • Your postcode and when you’re hoping to have the work done

If an existing chandelier needs attention before it goes back up, we can also discuss cleaning or restoration and repairs.

Have a question about your chandelier?

We’d be happy to hear from you.
